Northeast of Lake Meade, where my grandmother’s home town of St. Thomas was submerged beneath the reservoir in the 1930s, lies a landscape aflame with the most intense, fantastically sculpted red rocks. This work is inspired by a journey through Valley of Fire State Park and its maze-like monoliths and canyons which beg for exploration. Here, late afternoon light casts the land in color, even in the depths of shadow. Similar to the landscape itself, this large painting invites the eye to explore.
Valley of Fire is painted in acrylic on 1-1/2” gallery profile canvas with hand-painted, neutral-toned edges for a contemporary look with or without a frame. The work arrives ready to hang.
